Preliminary study of early primary HIV infection in a high risk cohort (A collaboration between SEARCH, The Thai Red Cross AIDS Research Centre, AFRIMS and University of Hawaii)

This study evaluates the incidence of early, primary HIV infection in a high risk cohort at the Anonymous Clinic at the Thai Red Cross AIDS Research Centre by screening HIV EIA negative samples with pooled nucleic acid testing. Approximately 5,000 samples were screened and the incidence of acute HIV infection was 2.7% per 100 person-year.
