HIV-1 Specific Immune Responses in Thai Individuals with HIV Dementia (A collaboration between SEARCH, Phramongkutklao Hospital, Chulalongkorn University)

This 5-year study is funded by NIH and will enroll a total of 60 subjects: 40 with HIV (with and without dementia) and 20 without HIV. The aims are to assess the HIV-1 specific CD4+ T helper cell and CD8+ CTL responses, and monocyte/macrophage dysregulation/activation in individuals with and without HIV dementia prior to initiation of ARV.  It will also assess the impact of ARV on HIV dementia.  The study has commenced in August 2008.
